Margaret Braxton is Managing Director, Payer Strategy and Payer and Regulatory Research at SCALE Healthcare.

Prior to joining SCALE, Margaret most recently served as a Senior Advisor, Value Based Contracting at Cigna where she led negotiations and developed contracting strategies in the SE region, including FL, AL, AR, GA, SC, NC and TN.  With market leadership, strategies developed had the goal of improving cost trends, quality of care and access. Collaboration with matrix partners resulted in the development of a regional dashboard, providing critical data points of PCP performance in value-based agreements.  The data provided insight for the development of short- and long – term goals within the market and region with respect to STARs, Risk Score and MLR.

Previously, Margaret, was the Director of Value Based Strategies – Bundled Payments and Director of Contracting at UnitedHealthcare Insurance. As the Director for Value Based Strategies, she drove pipeline development through rigorous evaluation of underlying specialty medical spend and emerging trends. She also oversaw strategic performance of bundle payment programs nationally. As the Director of Contracting, Margaret led a team of physician contractors supporting all lines of business, directing and approving negotiation strategies. Accomplishments include; exceeding unit cost goals year over year, rate remediation and network (re) configuration for tiered and narrowed products, with limited market disruption.

Margaret attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she studied for a Bachelor of Science.
