Dr. John Little

John M. Little, Jr., MD, MBA is a physician executive with senior leadership experience in the managed care industry. Most recently, Dr. Little served as the Chief Payer Strategy Officer for Cogent HMG, the largest privately held hospitalist company in the US.
From 2000-2012, Dr Little was Chief Medical Officer and Corporate Vice President for Health Care Services for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. His responsibilities with BlueCross included all aspects of medical management activities, medical policy, provider relations and education, pharmacy benefit contracting, and physician and facility contracting. Previously, Dr. Little was Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Companion HealthCare, a BlueCross subsidiary company. Prior to coming to BlueCross, Dr. Little was the Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina for 9 years. He also spent 6 years in the full-time clinical practice of family medicine.
Dr. Little graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and received his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina where he also completed his residency training in Family Practice. Dr. Little received his Master of Business Administration from Winthrop University. In 2009, Dr. Little was recognized by the American Academy of Family Physicians as its Physician Executive of the Year.
